Sinopsis: Emborracharte la primera noche de tu ultimo año de instituto nunca es una buena idea, pero Jake Hayes jamas pensó que terminaría con un accidente de auto y una barra de metal atravesando su garganta.

Y cuando tiene la oportunidad de pasar mas tiempo con Samantha, ella le enseñara que no poder hablar no es la peor cosa que te puede pasar. Tal vez, si ella se lo permite, Jake podrá al fin decirle lo que en verdad siente, incluso aunque el no pueda decirlo con palabras.


Lo que pienso de "What I Didn't Say":

Sinceramente, soy una persona muy sensible y hasta el mas mínimo detalle puede tocar mi corazón y hacerme derramar unas cuantas lagrimas, y cuando comencé este libro tuve que prepararme mentalmente porque sabia que al final terminaría acostada en mi cama, convertida en un bolita y llorando... Y si, termine en mi cama llorando, pero en lugar de llorar amargamente, tenia una sonrisa en mis labios y un sabor muy dulce en mi boca; What I Didn't Say es una historia que contiene romance, auto-descubrimiento y muchos momentos que llegaron a mi corazón.

Cuando Jake Hayes, el tercer hijo en una familia de siete hermanos, se ve envuelto en un accidente que termina arrancándole las cuerdas vocales y dejándolo para siempre mudo, atenido a hablar a través de tinta y papel, de lo que mas se arrepiente es de lo que jamas llego a hacer la noche del accidente: declararle sus verdaderos sentimientos a la chica que ha amado durante toda su preparatoria, Samantha Shay. Regresando a su escuela, se encuentra con que Sam a arreglado su horario de clases y le estará ayudando a aprender lenguaje de señas para que se pueda comunicar con los demás.
Pasando tiempo juntos, Jake llegara a conocer un lado de Sam que no había tenido oportunidad de conocer antes y, también, conocerá un secreto que Sam ha mantenido escondido por los últimos meses; y mientras Jake reúne el valor para poder decirle a Samantha lo mucho que ella significa para el,  Sam también comenzara a ver en Jake mas que un simple amigo.

No poder hablar es de lo peor, créanme, lo experimente por unas dos semanas cuando me dio una horrible infección en la garganta y perdí la voz... Fuera las dos semanas mas desesperantes de mi vida, y pensar que en este libro un chico de mi edad pierda la suya por el resto de su vida si que toco una fibra sensible... Keary Taylor supo exactamente como abordar los sentimientos de un chico y plasmarlos con la voz de Jake; leer todo lo que el sentía por si mismo, por su familia, por Sam fue increíble, toda una gama de sentimientos bueno y malos que me enamoro totalmente.

La historia esta contada en presente por Jake, en una manera de cuenta regresiva hasta la graduación, el cumpleaños de Sam y las cosas importantes que le suceden; pero también hay pequeños flash backs que nos dan a conocer como conoció a Sam y las veces que estaban juntos... La historia de amor es tan buena y tan tierna que me emocionaba cada vez que leía una escena en la que Jake y Sam estaban juntos, pero definitivamente me emocione de mas con su primer beso y cuando se hicieron pareja oficialmente. Pero lo que también me llego al corazón fueron las partes en las que Jake se preguntaba que seria de su vida ahora y lo enojado que se encontraba... Tenia unas ganas horribles de abrazarlo!

Los personajes son muy reales y están bien desarrollados... Amo a Jake, es tan lindo y todo un caballero, y la forma en la que cuida de Sam es tan tierna; y por otra parte, Sam es alguien que me ha caído bastante bien, siendo sincera con Jake desde el inicio y preocupándose por el... Los personajes secundarios también son muy buenos, los que mas me gustaron fueron todos los hermanos Hayes, por lo mismo de que cada uno tenia su propia personalidad, pero aun asi se cuidaban entre ellos y siempre estaban ahí para Jake.

What I Didn't Say es una historia romántica contemporánea muy bien escrita, que les mostrara que aunque a veces la cosas parezcan que jamas van a mejorar, al final, el amor, la compresión y la fuerza interior harán que todo salga bien.... Solo conserven una caja de pañuelos cerca, por si tiene corazón de pollo como yo (:

Honestly, I'm such a sensitive person that even the smaller detail can touch my heart and make me cry like a baby, so you'll understan that when I started this book I've to prapere myself, 'cause I knew that I'll probably end up lying in my bed, curled into a ball and crying my eyes out... And yes, I was a curled-little-sobbing-mumbling-ball, but I was glad, really glad that my tears were of joy and happiness, because What I Didn't Say is a very sweet, full of kindness and touching moments.

When Jake Hayes, the third son in a family of seven siblings, suffers a horrible car accident that leaves him without his vocal cords, therefore leaving him mute for the rest of his live, he finds himself attach to ink and paper to be able to talk and with a scar that'll mark him forever, but his biggest regret is the thing he wasn't able to complete the day of the accident: to tell the girl he has been in love with for the last four years, Samantha Shay, his true feelings. When he finally comes back to his school, he learns that Sam is now going to be in every and each of his classes and will be teachin him sing languaje, so he can be able to comunicate with other people.
Now, spending a lot of time with Sam, Jake will finally have his chance to know and understand Samantha a whole lot better, and in the process Jake will also discover a secret that has been tormenting Sam for the last couple of months; but as the time passes and these two grow closer to each other, they will find a safe place in each others arms and maybe, they will find they other half.

Don't be able to talk sucks, big time! I know, I've been down that rode for almost two weeks when I got this horrible infection in my throat and, horribly, lost my voice... Geez! Those were the most desperate weeks of my life, and to think that in this book a boy of my age lost his voice permanently, it really touch a nerve there! Keary Taylor knew exactly how to write from a male POV and how to write down the feelings that Jake had for his family, his friends and for Sam; it was a complete roler coster of good feeling and ban feelings, and I just fell in love.

The story, as I already said, is told from Jake's POV, and we also can read a few flash backs from where we learn how Jake met Sam and all the times that meant a lot to him... I just can't seem to have enough of the beautiful and lovely times that Sam and Jake spent together in the book: their first kiss, the time when the became oficially a couple or when Jake turned eighteen ; everything was so sweet. But the hard and difficult times were also something that touch my heart and made me want to dive into the book and hug Jake.

The characters are believable and well developed... I just love Jake, he's such a sweetheart and a gentleman, and the match he made with Sam was so awesome, since she's the smartes girl in school, but also is a romantic and cares for Jake a lot... The secondary characters are nice too! I just like how all of Jake's siblings were so close and always have each others backs.

What I Didn't Say is a beautifully written contemporary romance that will teach you that everything, even when somethings seem imposible, will work out... But keep a box of tissues next to you, just in case you are a helpless romantic like me.
